Distance formula 2

Two vechicles cover the same distance at the rate of 15 kmph and 16 kmph respectively. Find the distance when one takes 16 min longer than the other.

Solution:
Let distance travelled be p km.

Time taken by first runner: p/15 hrs.
Time taken by the second runner: p/16 hrs.
Given that p/15 – p/16 = 16/60.
Solving we get
p = 64 km.
Shorter method:

Distance = (product of speeds x difference in time to cover distance) / difference of speeds.
