Problems using Distance Formula 2

A certain distance between two points is covered by a person. With an average speed of 30 kmph, the man is late by 10 minutes. But with a speed of 40 kmph he reaches is office 5
minutes
early. Find the distance between two points.

Solution:
Let the distance be p km.
To cover p km at 30 kmph it takes p/30 hrs.
To cover p km at 40 kmph it takes p/40 hrs.

The time difference comes out to be 10 + 5 = 15 minutes = 15/60 hrs = 1/4 hrs.

therefore, p/30 - p/40 = 1/4.
Solving we get p = 30 km.

Shortcut method:
Use the Distance Formula 2 for evaluating the above solution.
